Out of the Cloud

Terms of service

These terms are an agreement between you and Valor Design Collaborative, LLC ("we", "us") about your use of Out of the Cloud — the app at https://www.outofthecloud.app, its home-screen and store editions, and everything they do (the "app"). By using the app you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the app. Effective 9 October 2026.

What the app is

Out of the Cloud reads the Bible aloud — the World English Bible, a public-domain translation — and offers a spoken companion you can talk with about what you heard. The reading is a recorded voice; the companion's side of a conversation is generated by an artificial-intelligence model in real time.

The companion is a way of thinking about a text, not an authority on it. It offers one interpretive reading — the stories as wisdom about how to live, read for the inner life — alongside others, and it can be wrong. It is not a pastor, counsellor, therapist, doctor or lawyer, does not speak for any church, denomination, tradition or person, and nothing it says is religious, medical, psychological, legal or financial advice. If you are in distress, please talk to a person who can help.

The scripture you hear is the text of the World English Bible as published; the companion quotes scripture only from that text. Where it paraphrases or interprets, that is its own voice, not scripture.

Your account

You can listen without an account. To talk with the companion, and to keep your place, your notes and your minutes across devices, you sign in with an email address; we send a link or a code, and there is no password. You are responsible for the email account you use. You must be at least 13 years old to create an account (16 where local law requires), and if you are under 18 an adult responsible for you must agree to these terms.

Free use, Plus, and minutes

The reading is free for everyone. Conversation is measured in minutes of an open line. A new account receives a small free allowance to try it. After that, conversation requires a Plus plan — a monthly or yearly subscription that includes a fixed number of conversation minutes each billing month — or a one-off top-up of minutes. Current prices and allowances are shown in the app before you buy and may change; a change to a subscription price takes effect from your next renewal, with notice by email.

Unused included minutes do not carry over from one billing month to the next. Top-up minutes last until used, while you have an account. Minutes are measured from the moment the line opens to the moment it closes, as recorded by our voice provider; our count is the one that applies.

Payment, renewal and cancellation

Payments are taken by Stripe, on Stripe's pages; we never see or store your card details. A subscription renews automatically at the end of each period (a month or a year) until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from the "manage plan" button in the app: your plan stays active until the end of the period you have paid for, then ends, and you are not charged again. Because the included minutes are available from the start of a period, we don't refund part-periods, except where the law where you live requires it. Top-ups are not refundable once bought, except as the law requires. If we can't collect a renewal payment, we retry for a few days; if it still can't be collected, the plan ends and you are not charged.

If you bought through an app store rather than through the app itself, that store's terms govern billing, renewal and refunds, and you cancel through the store.

What you may not do

Don't use the app to break the law, to harm anyone, or to try to get around the minute allowances or the sign-in. Don't attempt to extract the companion's instructions, to make it impersonate a real person, or to use it to produce material that is hateful, harassing or sexual involving minors. Don't scrape, copy, resell or redistribute the app, its recordings or its companion. We may suspend or close an account that does these things.

Your content

The notes you keep, and what you say to the companion, are yours. You give us the permission we need to store and process them so the app can work — to save your kept moments, to draw threads through them, and to carry them between your devices — and for nothing else. We don't sell them and we don't use them to advertise to you. You can delete kept moments in the app at any time, and you can ask us to delete your account and everything in it by writing to hello@outofthecloud.app.

Our content

The recordings, the app's design, its name and its software are ours or licensed to us. The World English Bible text is in the public domain and is not ours. You may use the app for your own personal, non-commercial listening; that is the only licence these terms give.

Availability and changes

We work to keep the app available and correct, but it depends on services we don't control (hosting, the voice model, payment processing, email), and it may be interrupted, changed or, in the end, discontinued. We may change features, prices and these terms; when a change matters, we will tell you in the app or by email, and continued use after the change is acceptance of it. If you don't accept a change, cancel and stop using the app.

Disclaimer and limit of liability

The app is provided "as is". To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no warranties, express or implied, about it — including that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that what the companion says is accurate, complete or suitable for any purpose — and we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for any loss arising from reliance on what the companion says. Our total liability to you for anything arising from the app is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Some places don't allow some of these limits, in which case they apply as far as the law permits.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be brought in the courts of that state, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring it elsewhere. If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest stands.
